According to Football Insider, Everton are set to offer veteran key star Idrissa Gueye a new deal to prolong his stay at the club. The 35-year-old has been a key figure at the club, particularly under David Moyes, who might have a say in keeping the 120-capped Senegal international.
Everton have enjoyed a fabulous second half of the season after the arrival of former boss David Moyes in place of Sean Dyche. Not only have they quashed any talk of relegation this season, but they sit comfortably in a mid-table position, with the Scottish manager rightfully getting all the credit for the work he has done since coming on.
Moyes could have a big say in some of the squad decisions ahead of the summer, including calls on some of the stars from the current team. Everton have at least three or four players coming to the end of their deals including Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, Idrissa Gueye and Michael Kean.
They are already looking for replacements for Keane, while the main story here is about Gueye, with the club now in talks over handing him a new deal. The 120-capped Senegal international’s current agreement ends in the summer, and despite his advancing age in the game he has played a key part in their revival.
Gueye turns 36 in September and still going strong, while he is expected to part take in Senegal’s AFCON campaign in 2026. He has been in talks with Everton over a new deal, and now, the Merseyside club are ready to ensure a sit down with the midfielder after the season ends.
Everton are already making plans for the summer, with some key targets already in sight. West Ham’s Tomas Soucek is a target for the Toffees, while Moyes will seek a new striker. There are considerable doubts about Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future at the club with the striker being another one of those whose contract expires in the summer.
Everton will also look for a defender as a replacement for Keane, while they might target another centre-back if Jarrad Branthwaite decides to leave. The Toffees are set for a busy summer with incomings and outgoings, while the club are keen to keep hold of some stars like Gueye as they enter a new era in their history.
