Arsenal prepared to open talks with Viktor Gyokeres agents

Arsenal are prepared to begin talks with Viktor Gyokeres over a move in the summer as the Sporting CP striker is now on top of their list.

According to Give Me Sport, Viktor Gyokeres might be at the very top of Arsenal’s shortlist for strikers ahead of the summer. The Gunners are prepared to open talks with him and Sporting CP over a move to the Emirates in the coming period as Andrea Berta is keen to wrap up business early.

Arsenal have a glaring need for a new striker, something they failed to sign in the winter transfer window. Back then, the Gunners saw a late bid for Ollie Watkins turned down by Aston Villa, and while reports are stating they could reignite their interest, Mikel Arteta may have other ideas.

Arteta very much likes Alexander Isak and considers him the best option in the market for the needs of the squad. However, there are big challenges in prising the Swede away as Newcastle United are set to price out suitors with an exorbitant asking price.

Since the arrival of new sporting director Andrea Berta, Arsenal have seen heavy links to Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, with the Swedish frontman now considered a name at the very top of their shortlist. Arsenal are seen as the best-placed team to sign the striker, who has a release clause worth a reported £84 million, although could be signed for as little as £70 million in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano had stated a much lesser price point, and it remains to be seen how much Sporting CP are demanding for the £70 million-rated goal machine. Arsenal are not the only team in town, as Manchester United hold a big interest, while Chelsea have also considered making a move for Gyokeres.

Arsenal to open talks for Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal had been thinking about initiating talks with Gyokeres for some time now and finally, they may have come to the decision to begin the conversations. The idea here is to get ahead in the race and convince the Swedish goal machine to make the move to North London, as the Swede was possibly cautious about a shift to the Premier League before.

Whether they are successful in their efforts is a question for the coming months, but it does appear Viktor Gyokeres has climbed to the top of Arsenal’s shortlist of strikers. The idea of joining the Gunners will be tempting in the current state the club are in, as the North Londoners are poised to sign a striker one way or another in the summer.
