Chelsea want to sign both Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen this summer

Chelsea are eager to sign both Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen in the summer but face competition for the two Premier League defenders.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea are eager to sign both Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen in the summer. The Blues face tough competition in the market for the two Premier League defenders, as the Blues look to improve their central defensive unit in the summer.

Chelsea are set to embark on an important summer window, with defensive signings a big priority for the club. There are several problems at the back, particularly at the heart of the defence, as the current players have underperformed for the expectations placed on them.

Hence, the West London club are ready to go big in the market, and they are looking to sign two of the promising names available ahead of the summer. One of them is Dean Huijsen, although Chelsea face top-level competition for the Bournemouth defender. However, they are optimistic about signing him ahead of their rivals.

Chelsea are ready to sell one of their current defenders to make space for Huijsen, and in truth, he could be better suited for the Blues unlike other teams as he is so far guaranteed a starting spot. Liverpool are in the hunt for the Bournemouth defender, who has a reported £50 million release clause in his contract that makes him an attractive target.

Chelsea keen on Dean Huinsen and Marc Guehi

Liverpool’s interest is not restricted to Huijsen alone as they are chasing Marc Guehi as well, who happens to be another one of Chelsea’s key targets. Newcastle United are also understood to be chasing the Crystal Palace defender, who could leave Selhurst Park, even on a bargain price.

Chelsea feel they could sign Guehi easier than Huijsen, although at that point it was probably one or the other rather than both. Guehi’s current deal expires in the summer of 2026, as Crystal Palace will be forced to cash in on him for a much lower price than they wanted for him last summer.

Guehi happens to be an academy graduate from Chelsea, who chose to leave and join Crystal Palace for regular first-team football. Now established as one of the top defenders in the Premier League as well as for England, Chelsea are eager to lure him and Huijsen during the summer, to allow Enzo Maresca to build a strong foundation at the back using the two Premier League defenders.
