Serie A side Lazio want to rebuild their defence in the summer and are keen on selling Alessio Romagnoli.
Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by LaLazioSiamoNoi, have looked at the Italian’s situation and they state that the Roman club were interested in selling him last summer.
In February, requests had arrived from the Saudi Pro League but Lazio decided to postpone their decision till the summer. And now, they are considering a sale and Romagnoli has been informed about it. This has caused a rift amongst the two parties, considering how the defender took a wage-cut to join a club that he supported as a child.
There is also interest from the Premier League and that can become an option for the player in the summer. Club CEO Claudio Lotito had promised him a renewal on a higher salary after qualification for the Champions League in the 2022/23 season but that never came, leaving the player disappointed.
The club’s sporting director Angelo Fabbiani has tried to mend that relationship but hasn’t found success in that. Romagnoli never wanted to leave Lazio but he now feels unwanted and departure would sting him.
