Randal Kolo Muani led the Juventus frontline on his own versus Monza, taking advantage of Dusan Vlahovic’s small thigh injury, and returned to the stat sheet after nearly 80 days. The two center-forwards had started together versus Parma due to Teun Koopmeiners’ absence and Kenan Yildiz’s lack of fitness, but the experiment didn’t go well. The Serb bowed out at half-time.
The striker botched a finish in front of the goalie early on but quickly redeemed himself on a counter. He commented to DAZN after the tilt (via Alfredo Pedullà).
“I’ve lived these months well. I feel good here. Winning the game was more important than scoring. I’m happy when I help the team, whether I play or not. The goal of every footballer is to be successful. As for the future, we’ll see. I’m on loan from PSG, so everything is up in the air.”
Juventus manager Igor Tudor heaped praise on Kolo Muani after the match (via OneFootball).
“He and Vlahovic are both strong. I liked him also from a human standpoint. I didn’t want to take him out because he was giving us a lot. He understood what kind of game this was. He ran, fought, scored, and almost bagged a wonderful bicycle kick. He had a complete performance that will boost his morale for the next matches. We need everybody.”
Chances are the Bianconeri won’t keep any of their two current center-forward to pursue an elite one. Instead, if they perhaps pick one, they should go with him over Vlahovic. He’s more useful and engaged even when he’s not producing. It’ll come down to the formula, fees, and wages.
