Manchester City leading Liverpool in the race for Jeremy Monga

Manchester City are reportedly leading Liverpool in the race for Leicester City’s 15-year-old sensation Jeremy Monga.

According to Football Insider, Jeremy Monga could be set for an exit from Leicester City to pursue his career elsewhere. Manchester City are thought to be leading the race for the 15-year-old Premier League prodigy ahead of the likes of Liverpool.

Ruud van Nistelrooy gave Jeremy Monga his debut in the top flight in a recent game against Newcastle United, making him the second youngest player ever to play in the top flight. Three years ago, Mikel Arteta made Ethan Nwaneri the youngest in that regard, and now Monga has a bright future ahead.

Van Nistelrooy added two more cameo appearances for the 15-year-old Premier League prodigy in the upcoming games including Sunday’s loss to Wolves. With Leicester City relegated from the top flight, many players will be looking to exit the club including Monga.

While the 15-year-old is not practically ready for regular Premier League action, some of the interested clubs are eager to develop him into a top star. Liverpool are among those interested with one of Monga’s cameos coming at Anfield. The Merseysiders are eager, but they are trailing Manchester City in the race.

Manchester City have ramped up their efforts to land the attacker, with Pep Guardiola impressed with his profile. He’s not seen as a star for the current first team, but rather for the developmental squad in the youth ranks. Manchester City are ready to pay big for the 15-year-old Premier League prodigy, as they are thought to be ahead in the race for the Leicester City star.

Manchester City move will suit Jeremy Monga

Monga will be eying a pathway into the first team and looking at some of the youth stars making it to the senior squad at Manchester City will fill him with confidence. The 15-year-old Premier League prodigy will look at the likes of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Nico O’Reilly as examples, which shows that Manchester City does give a good chance to come up within the ranks.

Liverpool and others could be good options too, although the idea of playing for Manchester City and developing in their youth squad will be a tempting prospect for Monga. For now, Guardiola’s side are ahead in the race, although there’s an equal chance for others to tempt the teenager ahead of the summer.
