Strasbourg leading race for Southampton’s Sékou Mara

According to a report by L’Équipe, RC Strasbourg Alsace are leading the race for Southampton FC’s Sékou Mara (22). 

The former FC Girondins de Bordeaux man has had a far from stellar time since leaving his formative club for Southampton. The forward has struggled to make a name for himself at the English club and has been consistently linked with a return to France.

A number of clubs are thought to be interested in Mara, but Strasbourg are reportedly leading the way with the club negotiating a transfer of €10 to €12 million for the young talent. L’Équipe writes that RC Lens and Stade Brestois favoured a loan which is far less favourable to Southampton. 

OGC Nice have also been linked with Mara but the French paper writes that they are thought to have entered the race far too late compared to Strasbourg.
