Former Barcelona talent Ferran Jutgla has not quite hit the big time during his time in Belgium, and now looks set for the second major move of his career. That he is not short of suitors in La Liga is a reminder of his talent though.
Jutgla made a break into the Barcelona first team under Xavi Hernandez, showing an eye for goal and good movement during his brief minutes at Camp Nou. Short of opportunities though, the Blaugrana decided to cash in Jutgla, selling him to Club Brugge for €5m, with a sell-on fee included. Espanyol fans will be keen to point out that he spent most of his youth career with Los Pericos, but it is Girona who are the Catalan side interested in bringing him back to Spain. Football España can exclusively reveal that Girona are competing alongside Sevilla, Villarreal and Real Sociedad for his signature.
It is Sevilla and Villarreal who are most interested in Jutgla’s services though at this point. The former are keen to add attacking options this summer, and have been keeping a close eye on Jutgla, meanwhile Real Sociedad’s interest hinges upon a sale for Takefusa Kubo. If the Japanese star leaves Anoeta, then they will get more serious about him.
Club Brugge are willing to do business around €10-15m for Jutgla, but one major threat is that an offer from Saudi Arabia is expected at some point, with Jutgla already receiving some proposals personally. Their terms would of course outstrip what is on offer in Spain, but the fact that he is ‘bored’ with life in Belgium could impact his decision.
In Sevilla’s case, that price tag looks on the large side given their salary limit struggles this year. Equally, it is certainly interesting that a move for Jutgla hinges on an exit for Kubo, as the two are vastly differing players. Nevertheless, there is a comparable goal return between the two, with Jutgla scoring 13 times and giving six assists, whereas Kubo has hit the net seven times and given four assists.
