According to Mick Brown via Football Insider, Premier League clubs are gearing up to make a move for Harvey Elliott, who hasn’t had much game time under Arne Slot. The English midfielder could be open to a move away from Liverpool and clubs are ready to make the most out of the opportunity.
While speaking to Football Insider, the former Manchester United scout said: “It wouldn’t surprise me if he looks to leave Liverpool this summer,”
“There are a number of clubs in the Premier League and abroad who want to sign him.
“He’s a better player than a lot of people give him credit for, and when he comes on as a sub he always produces quality moments.
“It’s difficult to understand why he hasn’t been playing at Liverpool.
“Maybe he doesn’t get on particularly well with the manager, maybe he’s just not the right fit for their system, but he’s a very talented player.
“I expect clubs will be queuing up for him if he does become available.
“He’s the type of player who would add something to most teams in the country.”
Elliott was a part of the Fulham youth setup before he made the move to Liverpool back in 2019. He went up the ranks and got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2021. While he has only gone from strength to strength over the years, things haven’t been that great for him under Arne Slot.
While he has missed 14 games because of a foot injury, he has only been involved in a total of 23 games and has racked up just 637 minutes of first-team action. People at the Merseyside club are well aware of his massive potential and they do rate him very highly but the lack of game time has frustrated the young midfielder.
Having started just four games across competitions this season, there has been a lot of speculation about the 22-year-old’s future. He is reportedly open to a move away from Anfield. However, the Reds do not want to lose out on him. They want him in their squad beyond this season as he is still a part of Slot’s plans.
If he does end up pushing for a move away, Liverpool will look for a significant fee as he still has over two years left on his deal. Newcastle United are one of the clubs that are interested in his services. He is an ideal fit for their project and Eddie Howe would love to have someone of his quality in their ranks.
Apart from the Magpies, several Premier League clubs are interested in him. If he becomes available, there could be a bidding war for his signature, as Brown believes he could add value to most teams in the country.
