According to a report from Sky Deutschland, Chelsea are keen on signing a new left-winger, and Jamie Gittens is quite high on their wishlist. The Blues have already held talks with the player’s representatives as they look to strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Gittens was a part of the Manchester City youth setup before he made the move to the Bundesliga club in the summer of 2020. He started with their Under-19s and eventually broke into their first team in the summer of 2022.
The Englishman has gone from strength to strength over the past few seasons, and he has already featured in over 100 matches for their senior side. The highly-rated winger has featured in 44 matches this season, and he has contributed towards 17 goals in just over 2,600 minutes of first-team action.
While Jamie Gittens was off to a flying start and had an exceptional first half, things have gone downhill of late as he has not been a regular starter under Niko Kovac. His contract at Dortmund runs until 2028, but there are high chances of him making a move to a bigger club in the summer, with Tottenham among the suitors.
Chelsea are one of the clubs that have expressed very clear interest in the young English winger. The Blues are desperately looking for a young right-footed winger, and Jamie Gittens is a great fit for their project which targets young players with massive potential.
The West Londoners are already in talks with his representatives as they explore a potential move. They are tempting him with a lucrative €6-7 million-a-year deal. With the player currently earning around €3 million per year, it is certainly a massive pay hike for him.
The would even be willing to move on a few players to make room for him. Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are both expected to be on the move. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho could be sold after completing a per Bundesliga giantsmanent move to Chelsea from Manchester United and with Mykhailo Mudryk banned, they do need more options on the left flank.
While Borussia Dortmund are not actively looking to sell him, they could be willing to talk if an offer worth between €50-60 million arrives. Another report from TBR Football has suggested Arsenal are also very keen on signing the 20-year-old.
The Gunners want to bolster the left flank with another quality option, and Jamie Gittens fits the bill. While the English attacking prospect is reportedly interested in a move to the North London club, he is also open to a return to Chelsea where he spent six months during his youth days. As a result, it is certainly one to keep an eye on.
