Liverpool want to sign Mason Greenwood

Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay big to sign controversial ex-Manchester United ace Mason Greenwood in the summer from Marseille.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are back in the mix for Mason Greenwood as they could prepare a move for the controversial ex-Manchester United ace in the summer. The Reds are reportedly willing to fork out €75-80 million to sign the forward from Marseille as Arne Slot plans on building a new-look attack.

Mason Greenwood decided to leave Manchester United and England in general following his legal case. He ended up at Getafe for a season on loan in Spain and excelled. His top performances then earned him a permanent move out of Old Trafford as Marseille paid a hefty sum to take the controversial forward.

Greenwood hit the ground running at Marseille, which did develop some hard-hitting questions about the club’s integrity for their decision to sign him despite public backlash. Either way, the controversial ex-Manchester United ace has so far 19 goals and four assists in all competitions with only one of those goals scored outside of Ligue 1.

Marseille are aware of the developing interest from elsewhere in the forward, which could prompt a big sale from the French side, who are eager to seek at least triple what they paid for him. Still only 23, the English forward could have a top-draw career after proving his worth with the Ligue 1 side. Liverpool and Barcelona were linked not so long ago, with the former now back in the mix for the forward.

PSG were also interested in Greenwood, although the prospect of making a return to England could tempt the forward. Arne Slot is planning to revamp his attacking setup after the renewal of Mohamed Salah, as the Dutch boss is ready to part ways with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez in the summer.

Liverpool ready to invest big on Mason Greenwood

Despite the controversies surrounding the Marseille star, Liverpool. are reportedly willing to invest €75-80 million to land Greenwood. The idea of pursuing the Marseille forward may have stemmed from the fact that Newcastle United are actively trying to price out Liverpool from the Alexander Isak chase.

They were linked with Ollie Watkins as a potential alternative to Isak, and the links to Greenwood might be from the same vein. Whether Liverpool realistically pursue the controversial ex-Manchester United ace remains to be seen, as bringing him to the club may create a ripple with a section of their fans who could certainly oppose this deal.
