Bayern Munich, Ajax set to run rule over Divine Mukasa

Bayern Munich and Ajax are reportedly set to dispatch scouts to watch 17-year-old English midfield sensation Divine Mukasa in action for Manchester City’s youth sides.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Divine Mukasa has garnered a market among European bigwigs with his exploits in age-group football in his homeland. Bayern Munich and Ajax are keen on signing the Manchester City midfield sensation, with the two high-profile clubs poised to send scouts to watch him this month.

Who is Divine Mukasa?

Divine Mukasa is the latest highly-rated prospect to emerge from Manchester City’s much-revered youth division. A native of London, the teenage sensation spent most of his formative years thus far in his home city but joined Manchester City from West Ham United in September 2023.

While the 17-year-old has yet to break into the first-team squad at Manchester City, he has made a few appearances for the reserve side. Mukasa has turned out four times for the under-21 team but has primarily featured for the under-18s, amassing 19 goals and 26 assists in 43 outings thus far.

Meanwhile, Mukasa’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Bayern Munich and Ajax are among the prospective suitors vying for the English midfield prodigy’s signature heading into the summer transfer window.

A big move beckons?

Bayern Munich’s interest in Divine Mukasa makes sense. The Bavarian giants constantly scour the market for highly-rated prospects, with Jamal Musiala the most recent whizkid to arrive from England and break into the first-team squad. So, it is hardly surprising that Mukasa has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich amid uncertainties surrounding Thomas Muller’s future.

As for Ajax, the Dutch giants have given many world-class players to the game, and they continue to groom promising prospects. So, it is understandable why Mukasa has emerged as a target for the Eredivisie outfit. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich and Ajax are ready to dispatch scouts to watch the teenage sensation this month.

However, prising the 17-year-old English midfield sensation from Manchester City will be a tall order, as the Citizens are eager to keep him at the club beyond the summer transfer window. So, Bayern Munich and Ajax must look elsewhere for a promising young midfielder.
