Manchester United line up moves for Adam Wharton, Bruno Guimaraes

Manchester United have earmarked Adam Wharton and Bruno Guimaraes as their primary midfield targets to replace Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are planning audacious moves for two in-demand midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Adam Wharton in the summer. The idea is to replace Christian Eriksen and Casemiro with the energetic duo, but there are obvious challenges ahead in pursuit of the pair.

Manchester United are eager to get their transfer plans right in the summer, which would involve them drawing a wishlist of players deemed essential by Ruben Amorim. There are quite a lot of players that the club are eager to offload from every department.

They have reportedly made headway in the Matheus Cunha chase and may have to offload one of their current forwards to part-fund the move for the Brazilian. In addition, they are eager to revamp their midfield options as the Red Devils are eager to offload veterans Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer.

Offloading Casemiro is understandably an issue, as the experienced midfielder is one of the highest-paid stars at Old Trafford and Manchester United are eager to get a sizeable fee to sell him. Either of those are an issue as there is a big chance the Brazilian might stay put, at least for another season.

Manchester United’s search for a new midfielder has taken them toward some of the big names with Frenkie de Jong a player of interest. Now, the report drops two big names on their shortlist as the Red Devils are reportedly considering moves for two in-demand midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Adam Wharton, as signing either of them will represent a huge challenge.

Manchester United unlikely to sign two in-demand midfielders

First and foremost, Manchester United may not have the necessary funds to make big signings unless they are on the verge of selling some of their current squad players. As for Guimaraes, Newcastle United are eager to keep him alongside other stars in the summer, especially if they end up qualifying for the Champions League.

As for Adam Wharton, the Crystal Palace midfielder will also carry an expensive price tag, and already has many top clubs chasing him. He will be more of a challenging signing for Manchester United or anyone else, as the chances for the Red Devils to land the two in-demand midfielders are slim at the moment unless there is an impressive financial turnaround at Old Trafford ahead of the summer.
