Jesse Derry’s future has become a massive talking point as he has turned down the opportunity to sign a professional contract at Crystal Palace. He seems keen on making a move away and potential suitors have been put on red alert following his decision.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Everton are all keen on his signature, and they have already held talks to sign the teenage attacking sensation ahead of next season.
Derry has risen through the ranks at Crystal Palace, earning promotion to their Under-18 side in 2023. While he officially remains part of the Umder-18s, the 17-year-old has featured in a total of 11 games for the Under-21s.
His numbers at the Umd18 level are quite impressive as he has bagged nine goals and one assist in just eight outings this season. While Derry prefers playing on the left flank, he is capable enough to feature anywhere in attack.
The Eagles are quite impressed with his growth and are offering him his first professional contract. Hoiwever, the teenager is not keen on signing that deal.
Derry, the son of Shaun Derry, who made 222 appearances for the Eagles, has turned down to opportunity to sign a professional deal despite knowing that the club see him as a future first-team player. His decision has caused a situation of panic as Selhurst Park, as they are set to lose another homegrown talent.
While the Eagles are still pushing to try and convince him to sign a new deal, they are aware of the fact that they cannot do much at this point. There is no shortage of interest in Derry, clubs from across Europe are keen on his signature but he could choose to continue in England, where Manchester City, Aston Villa and Everton are all interested in signing him.
Manchester City and Aston Villa have already held talks with the English youth international. Meanwhile, Everton have been in contact with the player’s entourage. City see him as an ideal fit for their long-term plans. However, Unai Emery and David Moyes might be willing to fast-track him into the first team to try and convince him to join them.
All three clubs are looking to make the most out of his situation at Crystal Palace. With him turning down a professional deal, it is almost certain that he will be on the move this summer unless the Eagles convince him to change his stance.
