According to a report by German outlet BILD, Niko Kovac is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are combing the market for a manager heading into the summer amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future. So, the 53-year-old Borussia Dortmund tactician has emerged as a target for the North London club.
Niko Kovac has endured a topsy-turvy ride since returning to the Bundesliga by joining Borussia Dortmund in February 2025. A well-travelled manager, the Croat has overseen teams in Croatia, Germany, and France, enjoying the most success in the Bundesliga.
The 53-year-old has represented Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg, and Borussia Dortmund, rising in prominence during his spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, which yielded the DFB Pokal in the 2017/18 season. Kovac guided Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal in his debut season but could not last long at the Allianz Arena.
Since leaving Bayern Munich, the Croatian tactician has endured a topsy-turvy ride, with the ongoing campaign with Borussia Dortmund creating much frustration. Kovac has won only half of the 16 games he has overseen thus far, with the Black and Yellows struggling to remain consistent under his tutelage. Nevertheless, his stock is high, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Niko Kovac is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a manager amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future. While the team showed promising signs in the Australian tactician’s debut season, the standards and results have plummeted this term.
The North London outfit might finish as low as 17th in the Premier League standings when the 2024/25 season ends, and the UEFA Europa League is the only tournament that can provide some respite. So, several candidates, including Carlo Ancelotti, with Kovac also a viable target.
The Lilywhites have already submitted an enquiry over a possible move for the 53-year-old Borussia Dortmund manager. However, it is unclear if the Bundesliga giants are ready to part ways with the Croatian tactician in the coming weeks.
