Tottenham consider re-signing Jose Mourinho

Tottenham are reportedly considering re-hiring Jose Mourinho, this time as Ange Postecotlou’s successor in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jose Mourinho has emerged as a potential option for Tottenham ahead of the summer to replace Ange Postecoglou. The Australian tactician is on the verge of losing his job at the North London side, with the 62-year-old former Chelsea and Manchester United boss now being considered in a shock move.

Jose Mourinho has not had the best few years as a football manager, as he is currently managing Fenerbahce in Turkey to decent effect. The 62-year-old Portuguese boss still has the big reputation of being a big club manager, following an underwhelming stint in Italy with AS Roma.

Before that, he was with Tottenham, which was his last English club following previous tenures with Manchester United and more prominently with Chelsea. Sticking with his Spurs tenure, Mourinho did not have the most smooth of exits, as Daniel Levy decided to sack him just a week before a cup final.

Hence, there is an element of shock as the report links Mourinho with a return to Tottenham ahead of the summer. Yet, the story states Spurs are considering an approach for the 62-year-old former Chelsea and Manchester United boss as a replacement for Postecoglou.

There are many other high-profile names linked recently, including Carlo Ancelotti, although the Mourinho links will be seen as a shock and may not materialise realistically. However, the only way this could happen is if the Portuguese tactician decides to have another stint in England and if no other clubs are in the mix.

Tottenham set to sack Ange Postecoglou

Regardless of what transpires in the Europa League campaign, Postecoglou will get sacked by the Tottenham board as the club are already in the hunt for a new manager. Brentford boss Thomas Frank is a top target for Spurs, while any move for him will depend on the circumstances around the summer.

Meanwhile, there are other names on the list, including Fulham’s Marco Silva, and their top target was indeed Andoni Iraola, although the Spaniard likely to stay put at Bournemouth for the foreseeable future. Overall, there are big chances for a new manager to arrive at Tottenham in the summer in place of Postecoglou.
