Brentford, Fulham ponder Kieran McKenna move

Brentford and Fulham could consider a move for relegation-threatened Premier League manager Kieran McKenna in the summer.

According to Football Insider, Kieran McKenna is high on the list of Brentford and Fulham ahead of the summer. Ipswich Town are eager to keep the 38-year-old at Portman Road, but the relegation-threatened Premier League manager could consider leaving the club for another stint in the top flight.

The summer window will bring a fresh manager merry-go-round with Tottenham Hotspur at the centre of this saga. Spurs have endured a terrible season on all fronts except the Europa League, where they are in the semi-finals of the competition and the favourites to reach the final.

Winning the Europa League will allow Spurs to automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League, which will be seen as a success of sorts by a section of their fanbase. It would also end a well-documented trophy drought for Tottenham, and despite that, Ange Postecoglou is expected to be sacked.

Tottenham are eager to trigger Thomas Frank’s release clause in his Brentford contract, as he’s probably their top target if they sack Postecoglou. Spurs reportedly wanted Andoni Iraola as their main target, but the Spaniard is expected to renew with Bournemouth.

Tottenham are also interested in Marco Silva, and while Fulham are expected to open talks with the Portuguese manager over a new deal there are no guarantees he would stay. Spurs had even considered Kieran McKenna last December, but he is not part of their list. Although the Ipswich Town boss has now emerged on the lists of Fulham and Brentford as a key option to replace their current managers if they leave.

Fulham and Brentford want Kieran McKenna

Ipswich Town are moved closer to making a return to the Championship following their heavy loss to Arsenal on Sunday. The club are eager to keep hold of McKenna, who achieved back-to-back promotions with the club and while the relegation-threatened Premier League manager is now heading back to square one, the club are still eager to stick by him.

However, the interest from Fulham and Brentford could persuade the 38-year-old to stay in the top flight. Fulham and Brentford view him as one of the top contenders to take over from their current managers. However, the London sides are keen to keep hold of their current managers, as persuading McKenna might be easy after Ipswich Town’s relegation as the 38-year-old might give himself the chance for another stint in the top flight.
