Manchester United set to step up interest in Eberechi Eze, Aston Villa also keen

Manchester United are ready to explore a move for Eberechi Eze, with the Crystal Palace playmaker also attracting interest from Aston Villa.

According to The Sun, Manchester United could end up formulating a plan to secure the signing of Eberechi Eze. The Crystal Palace playmaker is ready to move on to a bigger club with Aston Villa also keen, as the Red Devils may use their ‘trump card’ to get ahead in the race for the 26-year-old England international.

Eberechi Eze would complete his fifth full season with Crystal Palace at the end of the current campaign and this could be his last at Selhurst Park. The 26-year-old will be 27 by the time the new season begins and will enter his peak years, which he reportedly would like to spend at a bigger club capable of challenging for honours.

The issue for Palace is that they are keen to keep him, although the playmaker entering the final two years of his deal which could force them to consider offers in the summer. The report states the Eagles are bracing for offers in the region of £50 million at the very least for the playmaker, as Manchester United and Aston Villa are among those interested.

Manchester United were linked with Eze, as Ruben Amorim reportedly views his productivity as a big factor, that would help his team. The idea is to use the Palace star on the left-hand side of the attacking three, which does make a lot of sense. The big issue for the Red Devils is the interest from Aston Villa, as they are already formulating a plan to get ahead in the race for the £50 million-rated playmaker.

Manchester United are willing to use Marcus Rashford to help persuade Villa to back away from the Eze chase. The Red Devils are willing to offer the in-form attacker and sign Ollie Watkins, as Unai Emery’s side reportedly view the £50 million-rated Crystal Palace star as an alternative to the on-loan attacker.

Will Manchester United sign Eberechi Eze?

The report spins a story connecting Watkins and Rashford to the Eze chase, which makes sense and sounds unreasonable in equal parts. Aston Villa might be considering bringing only one of Rashford or Eze, and if they were to sign the former, then that could theoretically pave the way for Manchester United to move for the Crystal Palace star.

Rashford has cast doubts over a permanent switch to Villa, as he hopes to persuade some of the bigger clubs to sign him basis of his performances during the loan spell so far. Manchester United are indirectly considering Eze as a replacement for Rashford, and if they can succeed in their efforts to dissuade Aston Villa, the Palace star can move to Old Trafford.
