Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City make move for Nicolo Rovella

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City have reportedly submitted an enquiry over a possible summer move for 23-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Rovella.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Nicolo Rovella has garnered a market in the Premier League with his exploits for Lazio. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are keen on signing the Italian midfielder, with the three English giants submitting enquiries over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

Who is Nicolo Rovella?

Nicolo Rovella has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Serie A since joining Lazio from Juventus on loan in August 2023. A native of Segrata, the youngster spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Genoa CFC.

The 23-year-old joined Juventus in January 2021 but has yet to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Allianz Stadium. Instead, Rovella has made his mark for SS Lazio, turning out 68 times thus far for the Biancocelesti while chipping in with five assists.

However, Rovella’s loan spell with Lazio will end when the curtains fall on the 2024/25 season. It is unclear if the Italian midfielder will seal a permanent move to Stadio Olimpico. However, his exploits have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing him, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City vying for his signature.

A man in demand

Nicolo Rovella has been on Manchester City’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, and Bernardo Silva. As for Arsenal, Thomas Partey and Jorginho will likely depart from the Emirates as free agents in the summer transfer window.

So, Rovella is an option worth considering for Arsenal. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in the on-loan Lazio midfielder is understandable, considering Wataru Endo is on the wrong side of 30. The three Premier League clubs are seemingly serious about pursuing the youngster’s signature after submitting enquiries for him.

It is unclear if Rovella will return to Juventus after the loan deal ends or if Lazio will seal a permanent switch in the summer transfer window. That might determine if the 23-year-old Italian midfielder moves in the coming months amid his links with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
